Fragile Echoes
Installation • 2017
Inside each hanging bulb is a small sculpture of a baby. The light shows how fragile and full of hope a new life is. The shadows and the darkness outside, however, bring up sad truths—from the tragic loss of newborns in war to the emotional weight of abortion and the modern issues of surrogacy. The artwork explores the many situations people face: the desire to love and have a child even when it's "not possible," and the struggles of those who "want but they can't." It makes you think deeply about the choices people make, asking: Why do humans choose actions that harm the innocent, like war, when they have the power to protect these babies? The piece shines a light on the value of a baby's life and the darker parts of the human mind, ultimately questioning where the love goes in a world full of pain and shadows
